Salisbury woman arrested after allegedly robbing taxi driver

A Salisbury woman is accused of robbing a taxi driver at knife-point.
Salisbury Police say on December 16th around 10:30 PM a Bailey’s taxi driver picked up a fare at Royal Farms on S. Salisbury Boulevard at East Main Street, and brought the woman to E. Church Street.
According to the report, once they arrived, the woman told the driver to pull behind the house, at which point the passenger put what reportedly felt like a knife to the driver’s neck, and said “give me all of your money or I will cut your throat.” The driver reportedly handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect fled.
A K-9 unit from Fruitland Police Department apparently responded, and attempted to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful.
Police say a witness told them that the suspect got into a newer model Ford Explorer. That description was then reportedly broadcast to law enforcement in the area, and a short while later, a Maryland State Police Trooper pulled the suspect vehicle over.
The suspect was then identified as 37-year-old Meredis Fluitt, of Salisbury, and was arrested. She was charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, armed robbery, robbery, assault 1st and 2nd degree, theft less $100, reckless endangerment, and possession of a deadly weapon.
Fluitt was later released to the custody of Wicomico County Central Booking.
