Salisbury man sentenced in Pizza City, Chippewa Boulevard shootings
SALISBURY, Md. – Another sentencing was given in the fatal Pizza City shooting and Chippewa Boulevard shooting cases from 2023. On August 8th, 19-year-old Cashmir Holbrook of Salisbury was sentenced for first-degree murder and other charges.
Judge S. James Sarbanes decided on life in prison with all but 40 years suspended for the murder charge, as well as a concurrent ten-year term for a firearm charge. Holbrook was also sentenced to 25 years on first-degree assault, with all but ten suspended, to be served concurrently with the other sentences. Holbrook pleaded guilty in June as part of an agreement with the victims’ families. He was held in custody pending his sentencing.
On April 15th, 2023, investigators say Hollbrook and others tracked down the victim at Pizza City in an ongoing gang rivalry. When Holbrook and his associates found the victim, investigators say they shot him to death. On July 4th, Holbrook and his associates traveled to a neighborhood party on Chippewa Boulevard, where a shootout erupted.
Three other defendants in the Chippewa incident have been found guilty. One other defendant in the Pizza City shooting is awaiting trial, while another has been convicted of being an accessory after the fact.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes condemned the violence, stating in part,
“Yet again, we see violent gang activity wreak havoc on citizens and families in Wicomico County. We anxiously await the day when those who engage in such violence will decide that it must stop, for the sake of all those who suffer the terrible consequences that follow,” Dykes stated.
