Pocomoke Man Arrested on Firearm Charges in Wicomico Co.

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), in collaboration with other agencies, arrested a Pocomoke City man on outstanding warrants for illegal possession of a firearm.

Officers arrested 41-year-old Kevin Matthew Werkheiser on two counts of illegally possessing a regulated firearm and one count of having a handgun on person. According to court documents obtained by WMDT, he is being held without bond.

Over the past several days, members of the WCSO Joint Community Action Team, WCSO Criminal Investigations Division, and Salisbury Police Department worked collaboratively to locate and apprehend Werkheiser, who was wanted on two active WCSO warrants and was believed to be in possession of a firearm. As part of their investigation, detectives established surveillance in the area of Hardee’s, located on South Salisbury Boulevard. Detectives subsequently made contact with Werkheiser and took him into custody without incident.

During a search incident to arrest, investigators recovered a Taurus .357 Magnum revolver and approximately 190 grams (6.7 ounces) of marijuana from Werkheiser’s property. He was charged with firearm-related offenses and was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center. No drug charges have been filed against Werkheiser at the time of publication.
