WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – A former emergency medical technician with Lower Somerset Ambulance and Rescue has been convicted of sexual abuse of a minor.

On Tuesday, Apr. 28, following a two-day trial, a Wicomico County jury convicted 51-year-old Oliver Kennedy of Pittsville of four counts of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second degree assault. Sentencing was deferred pending receipt of a mandatory pre-sentence investigation and mental health assessment. Kennedy will remain in custody pending sentencing where he faces a maximum 35 years of incarceration.

Between 2018 and 2023, Kennedy sexually abused a minor in his household. The victim was under the age of 12 at the time.

“As we near the close of April and Child Abuse Prevention Month, this case is a sobering reminder that child sexual abuse exacts an indescribable toll on survivors,” said Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes. “The survivor exhibited strength and bravery in disclosing the abuse and when testifying in court. I would also like to recognize the members of the jury who approached their duty to deliberate seriously, and delivered a strong verdict that hopefully has afforded the survivor some semblance of the peace they deserve.”

Kennedy’s brother, 49-year-old Donald Mason Kennedy, also of Pittsville, faces similar charges. They were both arrested and charged on Nov. 4, 2025.
