Man Bites Wicomico Deputy During Traffic Stop
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has arrested a man they say bit a deputy during a traffic stop.
Deputies arrested 28-year-old Terrell Smullen-Parsons on charges including two counts of possessing narcotics with the intent to distribute, possessing cannabis with intent to distribute, second degree assault, two counts of obstructing and hindering, and related gun charges. According to court documents obtained by WMDT, Smullen-Parsons is being held without bond.
During a traffic stop on Smullen-Parsons’s vehicle, officers seized approximately 247 grams of raw marijuana, THC edibles, 25 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, a digital scale, $300 in U.S. currency, two cell phones, and numerous items of drug-packaging material. During a search of Smullen-Parsons person, he produced a quantity of cocaine from his person and resisted officers. During the struggle, Smullen-Parsons bit a deputy on the hand, causing a laceration and consumed the suspected cocaine. Detectives and deputies were ultimately able to gain control of Smullen-Parsons and take him into custody.
Emergency medical services responded to transport Smullen-Parsons and the injured deputy to TidalHealth for medical treatment. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Smullen-Parsons on Aug. 19.
With assistance from WCSO Criminal Investigations Division, detectives located Smullen-Parsons in a vehicle at an address in Salisbury, where he was apprehended without incident. At the time of his apprehension, detectives recovered approximately 6.8 grams of marijuana, $545 in U.S. currency, and a cell phone. Smullen-Parsons was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center without incident.
