Woman, 11-Year-Old Girl Killed in Delmar Motorcycle Crash
DELMAR, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that claimed two lives on Saturday.
On Aug. 29, at 11:30 a.m., police say a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Whitesville Road, behind a Ford F-650 rollback truck and Dodge Dakota, located west of Robin Hood Road. A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle passed the Dakota in a no-passing zone and struck driver’s side of the F-650 as it was making a left turn into a private driveway. Both the driver and passenger on the motorcycle were ejected.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 36-year-old Hilary Brooks from Delmar, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where she died. The passenger, an 11-year-old girl, identified as Mia Brooks, also from Delmar, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the F-650, a 19-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not injured.
The roadway was closed(Opens in a new window.) for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
