Wicomico Regional Airport hosts open house unveiling new renovations
SALISBURY, Md. — This afternoon, Wicomico Regional Airport held an open house unveiling its new Azure Flight Support terminal and maintenance facility.
The free event gave community members the opportunity to tour the airport’s key facilities and its newest improvements across the airfield. One of the upgrades includes Azure Flight Support’s renovations to the terminal, which the company said will enhance customer experience and support airport operations.
Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Hoffman said, “We primarily sell fuel to general and business aviation clients. We also provide fuel for the airlines on the field here, Piedmont and Breeze, and we’re hands-on with the customer, both the passengers in the back of the airplane and the pilots up front, to make their stay in Salisbury as smooth and convenient as possible.”
Azure Flight Support also assists with maintenance and transient traffic. With the newest upgrades to the airport’s facilities, the company said it is excited to show Salisbury some Tennessee southern hospitality, while Wicomico officials are pleased to see the hard work and momentum being put into the airport.
Salisbury-Wicomico Economic Development Executive Director Dave Ryan said, “Now we have Breeze, now we have Piedmont flying out of Salisbury. We started our aviation maintenance school. We have a partnership with UMES. We got a new fixed-based operator. We’re doing some shovel-ready sites at the airport. So we’re really building that foundation for more jobs, more commerce, and a higher tax base for the community in years to come. I think it’s good for all.”
Airport officials said renovations to the facility will also help staff keep the airport safe and fully operational.
