Decatur Baseball Fights Back To Down Bennett

The Stephen Decatur baseball team fought back from a 3-0 deficit late to defeat Bennett 9-3. The win improves the Seahawks to 13-1, while the loss drops the Clippers to 8-4.
Devin Hancock would get the start for the Clippers and he was dealing early. The Decatur batters would be uncomfortable at the plate early. Michael Jean-Charles would break a scoreless tie with a RBI fielders choice for the first run of the game. Then Bennett would look to add more in the 4th when Bennett would get the bases loaded with 1 out. Will Sass would hit a batter, but the home ump would rule the batter didn’t try and move out of the way, negating the free base. After a ground out, the bases would remain loaded with 2 outs. Bennett would then get a 2 RBI single to push their lead to 3-0. Then once the bases were loaded again, Jean-Charles would send a high chopper to short that was over thrown to first, but the ump would rule runner interference, ending the inning. That seemed to be the momentum swing that the Seahawks were looking for as the bats came alive for Decatur, as they would come charging back to take the win.
Bennett returns to action Monday when they travel to Pocomoke, while Decatur returns to work Monday when they host WiHi.
