Easton woman injured after being hit by car

EASTON, Md. – An Easton woman is in serious condition after she was reportedly hit by a car early Thursday morning.

We’re told at around 4:45 a.m., the Easton Police Department responded to the area of Route 50 and Kennedy Street for a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. It was revealed that 45-year-old Patti West was walking westbound in the area when she was hit by a 2019 Ford Focus, driven by 20-year-old Brandon Jester of Federalsburg, MD. Jester was in the deceleration lane, slowing down when the collision happened.

Jester remained on scene and called 911. He was not injured in the crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed that rainy weather conditions, West wearing dark clothing, and walking in the travel portion of the roadway contributed to the crash. Police say there was no indication of any impairment as it pertains to Jester.

West was initially taken to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, but was later transferred to the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma for treatment. We’re told West is in serious but stable condition.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact Corporal Maxwell at 410-822-1111.
