BREAKING: Delaware, other regional states to immediately begin creating plans to re-open state

DELAWARE – Governor John Carney joined several other governors on Monday afternoon for a conference call, where New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said regional states will create working groups that will immediately begin designing plans to reopen the states.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Connecticut Governor Ned LaMont, Delaware Governor John Carney, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo were all on the call. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan was not.

Cuomo added that each state that was involved will designate a public health official, and an economic development official that will work with the Governor’s Chief of Staff to create the working group.

Each Governor took a few moments to speak, each saying that the states all work best when they work together.

Governor Wolf mentioned reopening businesses and schools, but did not give any details or dates on when that process would start for Pennsylvania.

Governor Carney took a few moments to speak, saying Delaware is a bit behind the other states in terms of infection rates. He says in Delaware, the message of staying home is still important, but that the state will look toward reopening efforts. Carney also pointed out how Delaware is connected to other regional states, with many people living in Delaware but working in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Governor Carney stressed that this will be a slow process, but one the state is beginning to look into.

Cuomo urged other states to get involved in the discussion, saying that each state could share scientific and research resources.
