City Minute: What’s Happening at the Salisbury Fire Department

SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s City Minute, WMDT’s John Trout and Salisbury Fire Chief Rob Frampton discuss upcoming events & topics relating to the Salisbury Fire Department (SFD). 

This month, the nation will recognize the 25th Anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. In Salisbury, City and community leaders will gather at SFD Station 16 for a Remembrance Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Friday to honor the lives lost and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call that day. The City says the approximately 30-minute ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, National Anthem, invocation, remarks from City and public safety leaders, the traditional ringing of the fire bell, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., and a musical reflection featuring Amazing Grace on bagpipes.

October is around the corner — and so is Fire Prevention Month. This year, SFD is focusing on charging safety and lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are found in many of the devices we use every day, including phones, laptops, e-bikes and scooters. Chief Frampton says it’s important to use the charger designed for your device, avoid damaged batteries, and never leave devices charging unattended or while you’re sleeping.

The first week of October is also National Mobile Integrated Healthcare Week. As such, Chief Frampton shared details about his department’s Salisbury-Wicomico Integrated FirstCare Team  program, or SWIFT, which strives to connect residents with the right resources for their healthcare needs.
