City Minute: Salisbury Zoo celebrates Halloween
SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s City Minute, WMDT’s John Trout and Assistant Director of the Salisbury Zoo Jamie Nichols discuss what Halloween festivities are coming to the Zoo this month.
First up is the Zoo’s sensory friendly Spooktacular Halloween! This event will benefit those that would do better in a smaller-scale, calmer event setting. The Zoo has partnered with the Psychology Department at Salisbury University to host this event, featuring a sensory-friendly candy trail, activities and prizes. Tickets are $10 per participating child over the age of two, and adults get in free.
The following day, get ready for Halloween Happening! On Saturday, Oct. 24, enjoy a free, family-friendly celebration where guests of all ages can dress up in their favorite costumes. Plus, children aged 12 and under can enjoy a trick-or-treating adventure through the Zoo. Follow the candy trail, take part in exciting costume contests, and enjoy live entertainment, games, and seasonal fun! It’s a safe and festive way to celebrate Halloween while creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Parents and young adults should come back on Oct. 30 for Adult Fright of the Living Zoo! This is a new immersive experience for adults, with lots of food and beverage vendors and multiple scare zones that people can enjoy. Leave the little ones at home and get ready to experience the Zoo after dark in a whole new way! Tickets can be bought online for $10 through Oct. 24, or for $15 starting Oct. 25. Tickets will also be sold at the gate.
For those not able to attend any of the spooky events happening at the Salisbury Zoo this year, come back anytime leading up to Halloween to see the decor the zookeepers have added. Nichols added that the animals are already in the Halloween spirit!
And, come back to the Zoo after Halloween for the Third Annual Wild Vibes Festival — this year featuring a classic rock theme! This event is for those aged 21 years and older, as there will be beer and wine vendors on site. All funds raised go towards benefiting the Zoo’s coati habitat that’s currently under construction.
