City of Salisbury to Host Ceremony for 25th Anniversary of September 11th Attacks

SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury invites residents and community members to attend a public ceremony honoring the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks this Friday.

The Remembrance Ceremony will take place at the Salisbury Fire Department Station 16 Headquarters, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. The City says the approximately 30-minute ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, National Anthem, invocation, remarks from City and public safety leaders, the traditional ringing of the fire bell, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., and a musical reflection featuring Amazing Grace on bagpipes.

“As Mayor, I am honored to stand alongside the Salisbury community as we remember September 11,” said Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor. “We gather to pay tribute to those we lost and recognize the courage and sacrifice of the heroes who answered the call to serve.”

As part of this year’s observance, the Salisbury Fire Department will ring the ceremonial fire bell 25 times — one toll for each year since Sept. 11, 2001.

“This ceremony is a reflection of our community’s commitment to coming together to honor the lives lost and recognize the heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us,” said Fire Chief Rob Frampton. “We invite all community leaders and public safety personnel to join us in a moment of solemn reflection and remembrance.” 

The ceremony is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the apparatus bay at Station 16.
