Cambridge Police Warn Residents of Uptick in Vehicle Theft
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Cambridge Police Department (CPD) is urging residents to stay vigilant amidst an uptick in calls surrounding thefts from and of vehicles on the east side of town.
Police say that over the course of May, they have received several calls for suspicious people looking in cars, damage to vehicles, attempted vehicle thefts and actual stolen vehicles. Specifically, police are receiving calls from the areas of Deep Harbor, Byrn Street, Meteor Avenue, Crusader Avenue, Rambler Road and Roslyn Avenue.
Officers say residents should be sure to secure their vehicles and keep valuable items out of sight. Cambridge locals can also help prevent these types of crimes from occurring by keeping exterior lighting on, posting “No Trespassing” signs around your property, as well as posting your property with signage stating that it is being visually monitored.
“It is the community in whole working with the Police Department that will help stop these crimes from occurring,” CPD said in a release. “Be vigilant and committed to helping make Cambridge a better place for everyone.”
Anyone observing suspicious activity or person(s) in their area to immediately contact the CPD at 410-228-3333.
