UPDATE: Authorities Investigating Fatal Crash in Pocomoke City; Victim Idenitified
UPDATE: The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has assumed the investigation of last week’s fatal pedestrian crash on Ocean Highway.
Deputies say the pedestrian killed in the crash from May 12 has been identified as Sandra Mattingly of Pocomoke City. The vehicle involved in the collision remained on the scene at the time of the accident, and investigators say the driver is cooperating with authorities.
At this time, authorities have no indication to believe that the driver was impaired or violating traffic laws at the time of the crash.
The Pocomoke City Police Department (PCPD) completed the initial crash report, and the WCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit was requested to assist with the ongoing investigation. POCOMOKE, Md. – One person died after being hit by a vehicle in Pocomoke City.
Just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported crash in the 1000 block of Ocean Highway.
Crews arrived on scene to find a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle.
According to the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was shut down for a short time while emergency crews operated.
The Pocomoke City Police Department and the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.
