Milford Man Found Guilty of Savage Attempted Murder

MILFORD, Del. — A Milford man has been found guilty on all charges for his role in a brutal attempted murder that occurred in November 2024.
Derrick Legree, 39, was convicted this week by a Superior Court jury on charges of:
-Attempted Murder First Degree
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
-Aggravated Menacing
-Breach of Conditions of Bond During Commitment
-Two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child
“Our DOJ trial team and law enforcement partners did tremendous work in obtaining these guilty verdicts,” says Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “It is nothing short of a miracle that the victim survived, and her bravery will help ensure that the defendant will never be able to hurt anyone again.”
On November 3, 2024, Legree beat the victim repeatedly before attacking her with a liquor bottle and a knife at an apartment complex in Milford; the assault left her with life-threatening injuries that required extensive hospitalization and surgery. Legree fled before police could arrive but was eventually arrested in Philadelphia. Sentencing is scheduled for September 10, 2026.
