Fatal Shooting Shakes Small Community
TEMPERANCEVILLE, Va. — A shooting in Accomack County that killed one and injured five has left the community shaken. Deputies say that at around 1:41 AM on April 19th, an active shooting was reported at Par 4 Bar and Grill in Temperanceville, located off of Lankford Highway.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while five others were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One male, Skylor Dupree Crippen, was taken into custody by the Accomack County Sheriff’s Department and is facing multiple charges. Deputies now search for a second suspect, identified as Terry Thomas Bragg Junior.
Now, the impact of that violence is being felt across the community in this small town.
“It’s getting worse. It’s getting real bad,” said Assawoman resident Doug Fulcher
“I was shocked. Particularly when you read that not only were there patrons that were shot, but then he was shooting at the EMS people too when they showed up. It’s wild,” said Oak Hall resident Lianne Savage.
Members of the community are now calling on local law enforcement to take action. Residents of neighboring towns tell WMDT they want to see more officers on the streets.
“I think they could look at the trends as far as what’s happened, when they’re getting these calls, and when these things are happening. Obviously, the sheriff’s station is down in Accomac; maybe they need a substation or something up here closer,” Savage said.
Residents added that a recent uptick in crime in Accomack County has left them feeling unsafe.
“They should put cameras out there, and security. That would take care of that,” Fulcher said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office at (757) 787-1131.
