Four Arrested after Dover Police Locate Handguns During Traffic Stop
DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department arrested four men during a traffic stop on Friday night after they recovered two handguns from the vehicle.
Officers arrested the following men on the following charges:
- 21-year-old Daniel Michel, of Dover
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (4 counts)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked
- Failure to Signal
- Local Fugitive
- 19-year-old Neshawn Gibbs, of Magnolia
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
- 22-year-old Taron Marsh, of Dover
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited — Adjudicated Delinquent
- Criminal Impersonation
- Local Fugitive
- 19-year-old Nasir Peace, of Dover
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
All four men were arraigned and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on varying cash bonds.
Just after 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 18, officers conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chrysler Town and Country after witnessing it commit a traffic violation while traveling eastbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
While the occupants were exiting the vehicle, officers reportedly observed a handgun on the floor behind a rear passenger seat. Officers secured the firearm, identified as a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a second loaded handgun, a Springfield .40-caliber pistol, beneath the driver’s seat. All four occupants were subsequently taken into custody.
