SALISBURY, Md. – Mykel Elliot, the 18-year-old convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the 2023 Pizza City shooting, has been sentenced to life plus 60 years in prison.

The Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s (SA) Office says Elliot was sentenced on Thursday, Mar. 12, by Judge K. Beckstead, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for the county.

In a statement following the sentencing, SA Jamie L. Dykes said the following:

“This sentence sends an unmistakable message to those who would engage in this horrific violence that such activity will not be tolerated in Wicomico County. Any person, young or old, who glorifies the gang life should be put on notice that my Office will tirelessly pursue the prosecution of these crimes with all the tools at its disposal. We urge the Maryland General Assembly, who have enacted legislation in recent years which hampers prosecutors’ efforts to do so, to make themselves familiar with the everyday realities we face in protecting the public safety.”

SA Dykes went on to commend the members of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Salisbury Police Department for their diligent investigation of these tragic events.

Elliot’s mother, Kyeisha Elliott, was sentenced to five years of active incarceration in Nov. 2025 for her involvement as an accessory. Another Salisbury man, Cashmir Holbrook, was sentenced in Aug. 2025 after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and other charges. Holbrook is serving additional sentences for his involvement in the 2023 Chippewa Boulevard shooting case.

In the late hours of Apr. 15, 2023, Elliot and others sought out the location of several individuals near Downtown Salisbury, seeking revenge for a video posted earlier that evening. The video was perceived by Elliott and his associates as a challenge in an ongoing gang feud. Elliott and others located the victims at Pizza City early on the morning of Apr. 16, shooting one victim to death and shooting another surviving victim multiple times.
