Delaware to host largest free opioid overdose training this weekend
DELAWARE — A statewide initiative in Delaware is aiming to curb opioid-related deaths by offering what officials say will be the state’s largest free overdose reversal training session to date.
The in-person training, scheduled for Saturday, July 26 at noon, will take place at multiple locations across the state, including Wilmington, Milford, Millsboro, and Seaford. The event is designed to teach residents how to administer Narcan, a nasal spray form of naloxone that can rapidly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
Organizers say the goal is to empower everyday people to save lives as opioid overdose deaths continue to rise in Delaware and across the country.
“This training gives people the tools to step in and make a life-or-death difference in an emergency,” said an event spokesperson. “We’re calling on residents to get involved and be a part of the solution.”
The training is free and open to the public, but RSVPs were due by July 24. Participants can email dela.thecause@gmail.com for more information or to check for any remaining availability.
Officials say the effort reflects a broader push to increase access to naloxone and improve public awareness of how to respond to an overdose.
