POCOMOKE, Md. – The City of Pocomoke community is urged to come together for an emergency meeting after two back-to-back shootings in the area.

The separate shootings occurred last Saturday night on Moore Street and Second Street. Both incidents remain under investigation.
In response, Mayor Todd Nock announced that the city will be hosting an “Emergency Public Safety Meeting” on June 10th. The goal of the meeting is to have public officials and residents working together to address the issue of gun violence and work towards solutions.

Police Chief, Arthur Hancock, emphasized the importance of this meeting, saying that the only way forward is together.

He stated, “The purpose is we need our community to get involved. We need witnesses to come forward and speak. We need victims to come forward and be victims. It’s going to be very hard to get this under control without the help of our community.”

Hancock added that this year, the city has seen a 29% increase in gun related offenses. The meeting will take place at the Log Cabin at 6:30 p.m.
