Salisbury officials remain concerned ahead of summer season
SALISBURY, Md. – As summer approaches, local business leaders are worried about how busy the season will be. With the state budget crisis during the legislative session, many local counties are facing the impacts.
The districts saw increased taxes and new fees. This has caused concern for the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce President Bill Chambers.
He said the resort towns may see a dip, which could affect Salisbury.
“We are concerned about the economy, with rising inflation. People are pulling back from spending their disposable income, and that affects vacations and getaways. We’re hoping it’s a modified pullback, but there are concerns there will be a pullback this summer.”
Memorial Day is Monday and is the start of summer for residents and tourists.
