CAN launches Cambridge Waterfront Development survey

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – There’s been a lot of talk about what will be done with the Cambridge Waterfront.

Locals are launching a survey to find out what the community wants from the land. The Cambridge Association of Neighbors tells us one suggestion was to move the YMCA to the waterfront. But, some residents are questioning whether a non-profit that doesn’t generate public revenue would be the best fit for such an attractive plot of land. Chuck McFadden tells us that other residents believe the current location of the YMCA allows it to better serve the community as it is more towards the center of the city rather than on the edge.

Organizers are hoping to generate a good amount of responses from the survey. “The board wanted to find out what the feelings were instead of just ad hoc comments here and there. It was the whole community and represents a lot of neighborhoods in the city of Cambridge. So we wanted to get a feel for the whole little old city, how they feel about it,” said Chuck McFadden, President of CAN.

So far the survey has received about 500 hundred responses. You can access the survey on CAN’s website.

The survey closes next week.
