Wicomico Humane Society Closes Until Further Notice

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Humane Society of Wicomico County is closing its doors until further notice following an unspecified urgent matter.

The shelter posted a cryptic message on Friday afternoon, just before 2:00 p.m., saying they were dealing with an immediate and urgent matter requiring their full attention and all available staff.

“At this time, we are unable to provide additional details,” the shelter said. “We appreciate your understanding and patience as our team focuses on this situation.”

Shortly after posting, the shelter updated their statement to ask the public not to contact the shelter, the shelter Director, staff members, or volunteers for additional information. They maintain that they will share more updates as soon as they are able to.

It is unclear at this time whether the shelter will reopen on Saturday morning.
