Car Drives into Fruitland’s Lucky Star Restaurant
FRUITLAND, Md. – A car drove into the entrance of Lucky Star Restaurant in Fruitland on Friday afternoon.
Jack Chen, owner of Lucky Star, tells WMDT that the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m., and no employees or customers were injured as a result.
Damage to the building is minor, with most damage occurring in the main entry way and foyer at the front of the restaurant. Chen tells WMDT he believes the driver mistook the gas and the brake when she was attempting to park in the business’s lot. The car struck the building, driving inwards about seven to eight feet.
While the business undergoes repairs, Lucky Star will only be accepting take-out and delivery orders. Chen is optimistic that the restaurant will be fully repaired in the coming days after making calls to his insurance and construction companies. Crews will reportedly be working through this evening to start repairs.
The Fruitland Police Department tells WMDT they are currently investigating the collision.
