The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. for what was classified as a second-alarm incident. Crews from the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, Sussex County paramedics and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit were also dispatched after reports that a motorcycle had crashed into a fence.

According to emergency responders, the motorcycle was traveling on Banks Road as it approached a series of curves near Winding Creek Village when it left the roadway and struck a fence.
