Woman reportedly kidnapped in Powellville located at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

A Powellville woman is safe thanks to wind restrictions and her quick thinking, after investigators say her ex-boyfriend kidnapped her from her home, and attempted to take her over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Sunday, Deputies were dispatched to a home on Powellville Road, in Powellville, after a 911 call came in stating that a woman’s ex-boyfriend had broken in, and was taking her. Once Deputies arrived at the home, they say they found the door forced open, along with an open Glock Handgun Box in the victim’s bedroom, and .45 ammunition in the floor, but the firearm was missing. Investigators say they also found the woman’s cell phone, wallet, and vehicle at the home, but no one at the residence.
The Sheriff’s Office says they met with family members of the woman and found that her ex-boyfriend, Phillip Timmons, had a history of domestic assaults with the woman in which Timmons was the aggressor. The victim reportedly had a protective order issued, prohibiting Timmons from contacting her.
The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation was contacted by the Sheriff’s Office, and assumed the case. Investigators say they were able to issue a BOLO alert to surrounding states, in an attempt to locate the victim, Timmons, and his 2001 black Dodge Dakota. Shortly thereafter, Authorities say they were informed that the suspect vehicle, suspect, and victim were located by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Police, and that the victim was okay, and Timmons in custody.
According to the CTAP, Timmons tried to cross the bridge with two surf boards on the back of his truck, but wind restrictions led to the boards having to be removed, and taken across in a work van by the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Authority Road Crew.
Once on the opposite end of the tunnel, while unloading the surf boards, the victim reportedly jumped into the drivers seat, and drove towards a Police car, at which Timmons jumped into the bed of the truck, and tried to unlock the door through a broken window. Reports state that after the victim made it to the patrol vehicle, she ran towards the Officer, stating that she had been kidnapped and that Timmons was armed.
Police say Officers with CBBTP gave commands to Timmons, and a brief struggle ensued before he was taken into custody. Timmons was reportedly in possession of a loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun.
Investigators from Wicomico County say they went to CBBTP and interviewed Timmons. He is currently in the custody of CBBTP, and will be taken before a Virginia Magistrate on kidnapping, abduction and firearm related charges. The Maryland warrant is extraditable and has been lodged as a detainer, according to Authorities.
