SALSIBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury will be conducting a citywide fire hydrant flushing program to help maintain water quality.

From Sept. 13 through Sept. 17, the City will flush the public water system in the areas highlighted in blue on the above map. To minimize inconvenience, the City says flushing in these areas will take place between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

All remaining areas shown on the map will be flushed the following week, between Sept. 21 and Sept. 25, during normal business hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Residents and businesses may notice temporary discoloration of their water during the flushing process. Flushing can loosen sediment in water mains, which may enter service lines leading to homes and businesses. If you notice discoloration in your water during the flushing period, the City instructs residents to turn on faucets and allow the water to run briefly until it clears. Businesses that use a large volume of water when opening may be particularly susceptible to temporary discoloration.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to check their water before doing laundry during the flushing period, as discolored water may temporarily stain clothing.

For questions or concerns, please contact the City of Salisbury Department of Field Operations, Utilities Division, at 410-548-3103.
