Health officials announce 101 new cases, 4 new deaths in Del.
SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health has announced four additional deaths related to the coronavirus in the state.
We’re told that the most recent deaths involve on New Castle County resident, one Kent County resident, and two Sussex County residents. Three of the four reportedly had underlying health conditions, and all ranged in age from 69 to 92. To date, 335 Delawareans have died as a result of the virus.
Officials say there are 101 new cases, bringing the statewide total to 9,066. 4,132 of those cases have been in Sussex County, 1,368 in Kent, and 3,508 in New Castle. At this time, 201 are hospitalized, 38 of whom are critically ill.
A total of 4,802 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.
The state will hold a saliva-based testing event on Thursday, May 28th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Lake Forest South/WT Chipman Campus in Harrington. Individuals are strongly encouraged to pre-register online. Those being tested are asked not to eat, drink, or brush their teeth for 20 minutes prior to taking the test.
