Over $5 million in FAA grants secured for Ocean City Municipal Airport

Salisbury, Md. – The Ocean City Municipal Airport is set to receive over $5.3 million in federal funds to reconstruct its taxiway.

Several members of the congressional delegation have voiced support for the move, giving multiple airports millions of Federal Aviation Administration grants to update and improve their operations and infrastructure.

The funding will complete the final phase of reconstruction of the airport’s Taxiway, including pavement and lighting. Rep. Andy Harris (R-District 1) has been vocal in his support for the FAA grants.

Harris told WMDT that strengthening local airport infrastructure helps ensure they are used by corporations and strengthens them for the tourism industry that is integral to the local economy.

“Whether it’s the airport at Easton, whether it’s the Salisbury airport, whether it’s the Ocean City airport, you know, I’ve been supporting them with the FAA,” he said. “We want to make sure that we get our share of FAA dollars that frequently only go to places like Baltimore, Washington International or Dulles or Reagan National.”

Other FAA grant recipients include the Easton and the Salisbury Regional Airports.
