TidalHealth brings specialists to community luncheon to promote healthy habits
MILLSBORO, Del. – Experts advise adopting practical living habits by beginning with small, conservative changes. TidalHealth hosted a luncheon for community members of all ages to learn and ask questions to four specialists.
The speakers included Peter O’Hare in Urogynecology, Michael Russo in Orthopedics, Richard Simons in Cardiology, and Jerrod Bazulowski, a General Surgeon.
O’Hare spoke and considers himself like the ‘plumber’ of the body. He talks about how some disorders are more prevalent than the average person knows.
“The talk was mainly focused on pelvic floor disorders; these are common problems 50% of women have.”
Russo was questioned extensively regarding joint and tendon discomfort. Many elders struggle with pain in their bones at late ages. He tells WMDT, the effects on the body “Osteo arthritis can affect multiple aspects of the body, from the upper extremities to the lower extremities, to the spine, and foot and ankle.”
Instead of the sterile exam room, patients could be in a setting where food and drinks are provided. This event fosters connection between healthcare providers and the public, thereby humanizing the system.
One of Russo’s favorite parts is spreading his wealth of knowledge to people who need it.”Patient education is certainly the most important aspect of what I can do to help the patient get better.”
Experts say staying active, eating a balanced diet, prioritizing sleep, and getting routine medical care are pillars the speakers focused on maintaining a healthy life.
