UPDATE: Jones sentenced to 35 years for attempted murder

Jeffrey Lamore Jones, Sr, age 62, of Salisbury, Maryland

After being found guilty in July of attempted murder in the second degree and other charges, Jeffrey Lamore Jones Sr. was sentenced on Tuesday.

According to the report, charges were linked to an incident that happened on November 15, 2015, when members of the Salisbury City Police Department responded to a call for “shots fired” in the 400 block of Patterson Avenue.

When officers arrived, they reported to have found a woman who had been shot in the shoulder. Officials say Jones ran from the scene with a firearm, cocaine, marijuana, and nearly $9,000.

Jones was caught soon after less than a block away, and further investigation allowed officers to find out that Jones had shot his girlfriend, just before he was caught.

On July 13, 2016, a jury found Jones guilty of attempted murder in the second degree, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

On October 25, 2016, Jones, 62, of Salisbury, was sentenced by a Wicomico County Judge to serve 35 years in the Division of Corrections.

State’s Attorney Ella Disharoon commended the members of the Salisbury City Police Department and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office for their work in the investigation. State’s Attorney Disharoon also thanked Assistant State’s Attorneys, Jared Monteiro and Andrew Illuminati, who prosecuted this case.
