UPDATE: Salisbury man convicted of attempted murder

Jeffrey Lamore Jones, Sr, age 62, of Salisbury, Maryland

On Wednesday, a Wicomico County jury found a Salisbury man guilty of attempted murder.

Officials say that Jeffrey Jones, 62, was convicted of attempted murder in the second degree, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana, and six other charges.

The charges stem from a November of 2015 incident. The Salisbury City Police Department responded to a call for shots fired on Patterson Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in the shoulder. Officials stated that Jones then ran from the house, with a firearm, cocaine, marijuana, and almost $9,000.

Jones was stropped less than a block away within minutes of officers responding to the call, and further investigation revealed that Jones shot his girlfriend, just before he was caught.

Deputy State’s Attorney Ella Disharoon said she commended the members of the Salisbury City Police Department and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office for their work in the investigation. She also went on to thank Jared Monteiro and Andrew Illuminati, Assistant State’s Attorneys, who prosecuted this case.
