Shore to Shore: Good Morning Darlin’ Brings Mobile Coffee Experience to Maryland’s Eastern Shore
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. — A new business on the Eastern Shore is brewing coffee with a unique twist: it’s on wheels. Good Morning Darlin’ is bringing a mobile coffee experience to the region, offering customers a convenient stop for specialty drinks while supporting local businesses.
Owner Shelby Barone said her passion for coffee began in high school, when she started recreating coffee shop drinks at home.
“I’ve always been a really big coffee girl, so I’ve always kind of dove into how to make my own drinks from different coffee shops locally,” Barone said. “I feel like there’s a need for it around here. There’s no coffee shops in Mardela, so here we are.”
That passion eventually turned into a business idea after she noticed the Eastern Shore didn’t have a mobile coffee business.
“When the idea came to mind, I thought this would be great for our area,” Barone said. “Getting the beach traffic is always a positive.”
The mobile coffee shop has already attracted customers from beyond the Eastern Shore.
“We’ve had people from D.C. and the Virginia area, so it’s been kind of wild seeing the response,” Barone said.
While she enjoys serving visitors, Barone said she’s equally focused on supporting the local farmers markets and businesses where she grew up.
“Having people from my hometown, our local area and where I went to school coming out to support us has been really cool,” Barone said.
“I’m friends with the Calloway’s, I worked at Wright’s Market, and I know the Oakley’s,” she added. “It’s been really cool to not only support them but also bring our customers to their businesses.”
Many of the menu items feature ingredients sourced from the Eastern Shore, including seasonal drinks such as a watermelon purée lemonade. As the business grows, Barone said keeping the menu local will remain a priority.
Among the most popular drinks is the Cowboy Crunch, which Barone said is the truck’s top seller.
“The Cowboy Crunch is 100% our best seller every day,” Barone said. “The PB&C has been popular, too, and now customers are really loving the Party in the U.S.A. That’s been a big one this month.”
As Good Mornin’ Darlin’ continues to expand, Barone hopes the mobile coffee shop will become a familiar stop for both locals and visitors traveling across the Eastern Shore.
“Ideally, I would love to, maybe in the future — fingers crossed — have either a second trailer or an actual storefront here in Mardela,” Barone said.
She also hopes aspiring business owners take a chance on doing something they love.
“If anyone has ever thought about doing something and they feel like it’s too far out of reach, just go for it,” Barone said. “I’ve had so many friends who were like, ‘I would have never expected you to do this.’ and I’m like, ‘Me neither, honestly.’ But here we are. It’s been amazing. It’s been so rewarding.”
