SALISBURY, Md. – The City’s biggest party is finally here this weekend!
The Maryland Folk Festival will take place within Downtown Salisbury. Borders of the Festival Footprint include Route 13, Route 50, the Wicomico River, and Carroll Street.
The festivities will kickoff on Friday at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by the Philadelphia Mummers! This group is known for their New Year’s Day celebration, but on Friday they’ll be parading through our streets with their bright clothing and upbeat music to set the vibe for the weekend. They are just one of 30 performers booked at the festival.
This is a free event for everyone to enjoy the performances and demonstrations at no cost. Food, drinks, and merchandise will be available for purchase. Vendors open at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The TAPS program will also be running for alcohol onsite throughout the festival, for those of age who would like to responsibly enjoy a beverage. No outside alcohol or coolers are permitted.
Performances on Saturday and Sunday are slated to begin at noon. The party goes until 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and will come to a close on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
The City asks attendees to not bring any flying objects, like frisbees, kites, and drones. Additionally, while service animals are permitted, attendees are also asked to leave their furry friends at home.
If you need assistance while at the festival, find someone in a purple shirt labeled “VOLUNTEER.” They can assist you with anything from losing a member of your party, to finding a restroom.
More information regarding the festival and the weekend’s performers can be found here. We hope to see you there!
