Salisbury Prepares for the 2025 Seagull Century
SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury is gearing up for the 37th Annual Seagull Century set for Sept. 27.
The Salisbury University event brings thousands of riders from across the country to the Eastern Shore every fall. Cyclists are able to choose between the full 100 mile route, or a shorter route of 63 or 40 miles.
To accommodate the large influx of participants and ensure safety, several temporary road closures and traffic adjustments will be in place throughout Salisbury and surrounding areas on the day of the event. Bateman Street, from Route 13 to South Division Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic. South Division Street will have temporary restrictions. At the beginning of the event, traffic will be stopped at Avery Street. At the end of the event, there will be traffic restrictions from Francis Drive to Milford Street as cyclists return.
The Salisbury University Police Department will work with the Salisbury Police Department and other agencies will work together to manage closures and maintain traffic flow. Barricades will be in place with staff on site to ensure emergency and business access throughout the event. The City encourages residents and visitors to plan ahead and allow extra travel time on the event day.
“Seagull Century is a signature event for Salisbury. We look forward to seeing all the competitors every year, and wish them a safe and fun race for 2025!” said Mayor Randy Taylor in a statement.
