Salisbury danced through National Night Out
SALISBURY, Md. — Salisbury’s National Night Out was held Tuesday evening, bringing the community together for a free night of fun.
City Council President D’Shawn Doughty said, “It’s the best night of the year. It looks like the whole city is here.” He added, “I’m here to reap the benefits, see everyone, see all the smiles.”
The annual event is designed to support and strengthen relationships within the community through various partnerships. It also serves as a family-friendly celebration offering free activities and entertainment.
Sgt. Thomas Hitty of the Salisbury Police Department was the lead organizer behind this year’s festivities.
“It’s time-consuming, but it’s great to see it all come together. It’s very rewarding,” Hitty said.
He added that it was meaningful to see law enforcement officers set aside their roles for an evening to connect on a personal level.
“It shows that we have compassion for our community, and that we’re here trying to be a part of the community that we also live in,” he said.
The National Night Out mascot danced throughout the event, greeting families and community members.
