Foodie Friday: Dover Street Grill

SALISBURY, Md. – Dover Street Grill is located on Route 13 in the heart of Salisbury. And as Hannah Cechini and Foodie Photog Mike learned in this edition of Foodie Friday, it’s the perfect place to grab a quick and tasty bite to keep your belly full.

A Burger to Bowl You Over

“I was excited about this the moment they said pulled pork cheeseburger,” said Mike.

This burger is a 90-10 lean mix and flavored with eight different seasonings. It sizzles with pulled pork and pepper jack cheese on the grill before getting stacked on a freshly sliced bun. Mike had to take a second to figure out how to unhinge his jaw, kind of like those fish you see in deep sea documentaries.

“The barbecue has just a tiny hint of that Carolina vinegar, but it’s really subtle. Lots of those nice, subtle smoky flavors that most people love … The pulled pork is definitely the wow factor. But that’s just a good burger, too,” Mike said.

Terrific Tacos

The handhelds don’t stop here.

The shrimp tacos come complete with homemade coleslaw, aioli, and mango salsa.

“I love how the aioli and the coleslaw have combined together in this really wonderful, creamy component, which is cut right through by the freshness of that mango salsa … There’s jalapeno in here that adds a pop of heat. There’s a crunch going on. Just all around really enjoyable,” Hannah said.

A Foodie First

And now, one small step for man, and one giant leap for Foodie kind.

“This may be a Foodie first. I can dip in a sandwich!” Mike said as he plunged a fresh fry into the depths of a crabby melt on an English muffin. “That’s a winner right there.”

The melts are full of flavor.

“The perpetual competition on Delmarva is who’s got the best crab dip, crab cake, crab anything recipe. I think these crabby melts are up there on that list … You take a bite of the crabby melt, and you take a bite of one of those fries, and it’s instantly like, I’m on the boardwalk in Ocean City in the summertime,” Hannah said.

“Everything on the inside is still creamy and rich, and just flowing into all those nice little craggy bits in the English muffin … That is the Eastern Shore on an English muffin right there,” Mike added.
