SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico deputies arrested an 18-year-old after they reportedly found a modified handgun concealed under the floormat of his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Deputies arrested Jim’my Jasir Louis of Salisbury on charges of possession of a handgun in a vehicle, possession of a handgun as a minor, knowingly altering a firearm identification number, and related gun crimes. He is being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, a deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a BMW near South Mall Drive and Centre Road in Salisbury, after observing multiple vehicle equipment violations. During the investigation, the deputy detected the odor of burnt marijuana and made contact with the driver, identified as Louis.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in the discovery of a loaded Glock 34, 9mm handgun concealed beneath the driver’s floor mat, directly below where Louis had been seated. Authorities say the firearm was equipped with an illegal aftermarket device commonly known as a Glock Switch, which is designed to convert a semiautomatic handgun into a fully automatic firearm. Investigators also discovered that the firearm’s serial numbers had been obliterated.

The firearm was loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition in a 30-round-capacity magazine.
