Locomotive enthusiasts takeover Ocean City Convention Center

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Delaware Seaside Railroad Club hosted a train, toy, and hobby show. The event was held in the Dockside Hall located in the Ocean City Convention Center. DRSC worked with the Ocean City Beach Patrol and Maryland’s Holiday Shoppers Fair.

A longtime member of DSRC, Skip Lee tells WMDT the group was pleased with the turnout.

“There isn’t a lot of opportunity for events like this on the Eastern Shore, so we were not sure how well this would be received. However, we are pleased; the crowd was really happy.”

This 3-day extravaganza displayed locomotives to the kids and provided shops for enthusiasts. Lee shared that this event took hours of volunteer help.

“We had between November 10th and November 21st to get up and running. It took us 11 days to set up all 4 displays. It was a labor of love, and some of us were here really late at night. It was a lot of fun though.”

The event brought in families and local shops. Frank Deuter just opened his train shop in Snow Hill MD. His store, Corddry Crossing Hobbies has everything for any enthusiasts to enjoy.

“We have some wooden toys as well as battery-powered locomotives as well. We also have to the multi-thousand-dollar locomotives.”

This hobby can require some added investment, but Deuter believes this is more than just a hobby: it is a way for people to explore. “People ask daily about how long it’ll to take me to get things up and running fully. It’s never done because I’m always tinkering with it, adding things to it, taking things away, and trading with other people.”
