Off-Shore Wind Energy hearings underway in Maryland

Offshore Wind Energy in Maryland is taking another step forward this week as two companies present their proposals to the Maryland Public Service Commission.
Both U.S. Wind and Skipjack offshore energy are looking for offshore renewable energy credits from the commission for their projects.
The companies are seeking to install wind turbines off the coast of Ocean City.
After the evidentiary hearings the Maryland Public Service Commission will also seek public comment Saturday March 25 at Stephen Decatur Middle school's cafeteria beginning at noon.
"The commission would have to make a decision to either approve, conditionally approve, or deny the project no later that May 17th both companies have indicated they could be in operation approximately 2020," said Tori Leonard, spokeswoman for the Maryland Public Service Commission.
More information on both of the proposals can be found on the Maryland Public Service Commission's website.
