Salisbury University sees second-largest incoming class in school history
SALISBURY, Md. – Monday marked the start of classes for a number of local colleges, including Salisbury University.
Schools across the country have been feeling the effects of federal financial aid backups for potential students.
But Salisbury University officials say that they were able to manage the financial aid delays as effectively as could have been hoped for.
This fall semester, they are looking at the second largest first-year class in school history, with over 1400 first-year 500 transfer students.
The size of the new class is partially attributed to the fact that they were the first Maryland school to release their financial aid back in the spring.
“We all know that there was a lot of issues with the FAFSA Simplification Act this year, and so we really worked hard to make sure that we were communicating that affordability, that price point that I think is very competitive, not only in the state but across the country,” said Salisbury University VP of Enrollment Management Allen Koehler.
Koehler added that, in the future, they expect the size of incoming classes to continue to increase.
With this Fall 2024 class being the second largest incoming class in Salisbury’s history, the first was back in 2019, right before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Koehler said they’re already seeing significant numbers of prospective students attending their events, including record-breaking attendance at a recent sunset tour.
