Escaped inmate arrested in Salisbury following Sussex Co. home invasion
GEORGETOWN, Del. – A Sussex County inmate who escaped on Thursday was located and arrested in connection to a home invasion.
At around 3 p.m., troopers were called to a house in the 21000 block of Zoar Road for a reported home invasion. It was learned that a man, identified as 36-year-old Lyndon King, who had reportedly walked away from Sussex Community Corrections Center that same day, had forced entry into the home and was still there when the 69-year-old victim got home. King allegedly confronted the victim, pushed her down, and pulled the house phone from the wall to prevent her from calling 911. He then reportedly stole the victim’s cell phone and fled in her Chevrolet Trax.
After King fled, the victim went outside and waved down a passing vehicle to call 911. Troopers were able to track the vehicle electronically and found it in Salisbury. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police found the vehicle and suspect near Staples on North Salisbury Boulevard.
The victim was not hurt.
King is in custody in Maryland. Once he is extradited to Delaware, he will be charged with first degree robbery, first degree home invasion burglary, terroristic threatening victim over 62 years old, theft of a motor vehicle, malicious interference with emergency communications, offensive touching, and criminal mischief.
