American Education Week celebrated at Dorchester County Public Schools

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. – In Dorchester County community members are coming together to show their thanks to Educational Support Professionals by filling these bags with the meal in honor of American Education Week.

“It is an opportunity for us to appreciate our public schools for the hard work that everyone is doing to raise our children in our communities,” said Katie Holbrook, with Dorchester County Public Schools.

As the district celebrates public education, staff shares some of the changes seen over the years. “Education has changed to better our kids and I am excited to see the growth of education. You’re always learning new little two bits new fun facts to make it interesting for the kids,” said, Education Support Professional, Ms. Peach. “We are rigorous as ever and the instruction in the curriculum that we provide, but really it has changed drastically and dramatically even since I’ve been in school,” said Holbrook. “We find ways whether it’s administratively, whether its teachers, or our support staff to go out and go out there and make sure every student has a chance to be successful,” said SUperintendent Dave Bromwell.

Superintendent Dave Bromwell and Katie Holbrook showed their appreciation by delivering some of the meals to staff that make a difference. “Our hourly staff that works within our school system and it’s a beautiful opportunity to recognize the hard work that they do. They are the unsung heroes of our school system,” said Holbrook.

Education Support Professional, Erin Pinkett, otherwise known as Ms. Peach says her job isn’t easy but the students of Dorchester County make it worth it. “It’s really the kids they’re our future they make it worthwhile some days are challenging, but when you look back on these weeks and see where these kids have grown from knowing them from little to get old getting older it just makes it worthwhile,” Ms. Peach said.

Throughout the week Dorchester County Public Schools will be highlighting what their students like most about their schools as well on their facebook page.
