Decatur holds moment of silence for Gavin Knupp
BERLIN, Md. – Prior to their JV and varsity games with Bennett, the Decatur Seahawks held a moment of silence for Gavin Knupp. The teenager was killed in a hit-and-run just south of Ocean Pines in July, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The Seahawks opted to begin the game without a goalie, and placed a 00 jersey in the goal to remember Gavin who would’ve been attending Decatur this fall as a freshman.
One coach who spoke with 47 ABC Sports described Gavin as an incredible goaltender. A keeper who likely would’ve been playing in net for the Seahawks Thursday if not for that tragic incident in July, adding he may have been good enough to be named backup on varsity.
