City Minute: August Third Friday & 9/11 Ceremony

SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s City Minute, WMDT’s John Trout and City of Salisbury Communications Director Jordan Ray discuss what’s going on in Salisbury as the summer comes to a close.

August’s Third Friday theme is Back to School! Parents can expect activities for kids to play and meet with family members and friends before going back to school. Plus, organizers say free school supplies and toiletries will be given away at the event, made possible through Talks with Tiff, Inc. 

This September marks the 25th Anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. To honor the lives lost, the City of Salisbury will host their annual 9/11 ceremony at the Salisbury Fire Department Station 16. This ceremony is open to the public and will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the traditional ringing of the fire bell, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., and a musical reflection featuring Amazing Grace on bagpipes. Residents are encouraged to join the City and come together as leaders honor this tragic event. 

Lastly, the City recently launched a new website, called Salisbury OneMap. The site serves as a new public platform that brings City data into one place for residents, businesses, and staff. Community members are encouraged to check out the site for all City of Salisbury needs.
