City Minute: Maryland250 & Street Performers Initiative

SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s City Minute, WMDT’s Haley Rae and City of Salisbury Communications Director Jordan Ray discuss new projects and upcoming events happening in Salisbury in the coming weeks.

Firstly, the City would like to give a shout out to their friends at PAC 14, who were at Salisbury’s recent State of the City Address. If you’d like to learn more about the City’s recent accomplishments and initiatives, you can check out the full address on the PAC 14 YouTube page, or check out WMDT’s coverage here.

One of the new initiatives coming to Salisbury this year is the City’s new Street Performers Initiative. Salisbury leaders say the goal is to provide artists a unique opportunity to express themselves through music, dancing, and art, while keeping the parks, streets and city pavilions safe.

Enjoy the spirit of public art at this month’s Third Friday, returning on Jul. 17 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. This month’s theme is MD250, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with an Eastern Shore twist. Visitors can enjoy downtown shopping, local artists, entertainment, food, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

Plus, enjoy another free concert later this month at the Pohanka Riverwalk Ampitheater. On Friday, Jul. 31, the Great Train Robbery will be preforming from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Savour Restaurant and Flannery’s Food Truck will also be on-site with beverages and bites available for purchase.
