SALISBURY, Md.- On Sunday Jul. 5th, West Salisbury Little League organziers reported that two juveniles broke into the facilities at Pemberton Park in Salisbury and vandalized the office space causing over $3,000 in damages.

Kristen Wheatley is the president of West Salisbury Little League, and expressed the incident is especially disheartening given the organizations mission.

“They didn’t have to come here and steal.” Said Wheatley. “We would have helped them. And that’s what we do, we bring kids into our league and make them feel like a family, even if they don’t have one.”

The juveniles reportedly entered the facility through a utility closet, where they proceeded to climb onto the water heater and enter the office space. The damages included a destroyed AC unit, security system monitor, a smashed window, stolen merchandise, and spray painted table tops.

Vice president of the league Jeremy Maloney emphasized the strains these costs put on an organization that already has to raise their own funds.

“We tend to be in the business of not really asking for much.” Said Maloney. “We come out here, we put our nose to the grindstone and try to make this place the best we can, you know, but there’s only so many people. There’s only so much money, so much time really.”

The Salisbury Police Department confirmed that they have identified and charged the two suspects.

West Salisbury Little League is a non-profit organization, that runs off of donations and sponsorships.
