DEWEY BEACH, Del. – The Dewey Beach Police Department has arrested two teenagers in connection with a disturbance and assault that injured two police officers.

Police have arrested 19-year-old David Reina of Bethesda and 18-year-old Quentin Wilber of Chevy Chase on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with force or violence, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, and related charges. Authorities say both defendants were arraigned and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction pending further proceedings.

At 3:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, officers were dispatched to the Izzy Plaza parking lot for a report of two males yelling at one another. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals, later identified as Reina and Wilber, seated in front of a business on Coastal Highway. During the investigation, officers attempted to identify the two men, but they reportedly continued to provide false names and dates of birth. Officers also learned that one of the individuals had been involved in a theft incident inside a nearby business, which was handled civilly by staff.

As officers continued their investigation, they say both subjects attempted to flee the scene on foot towards Saulsbury Street. When officers attempted to detain them, a physical struggle ensued between Reina and Wilber. Police say one of the two men attempted to interfere with officers as they took the other into custody. One subject fled again toward Coastal Highway before an officer deployed a department-issued Taser, successfully stopping him and allowing officers to take him into custody. The second subject continued to resist arrest before being restrained with assistance from a bystander.

Both teenagers were transported to DBPD for processing. One subject was later transported to Beebe Hospital for evaluation due to signs of intoxication and possible health concerns. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Two Dewey Beach police officers sustained minor injuries during the incident and were not transported for medical treatment.
