Maryland State Police investigating fatal motorcycle crash in Berlin

BERLIN, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that happened Saturday afternoon.

Police say around 4:30 p.m. troopers responded to the intersection of westbound Route 50 and Route 610 for a crash involving two motorcycles. Investigators say a 2011 Harley Davidson, driven by 47-year-old Brian Riley of Altoona, PA crashed into a 2002 Harley Davidson, carrying a male driver and female passenger.

Riley’s passenger, 49-year-old Lorrie Buoymaster of Altoona, PA was airlifted to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. She died Sunday at the facility. The male driver on the second motorcycle was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. His female passenger was airlifted to Christiana Hospital and treated for injuries.

Riley was briefly taken into custody when troopers arrived on scene, but was later released. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is still investigating. Charges are pending for Riley as the investigation continues.
